Why you should create a personal manifesto

family , focus , home , life , meaning , musing , personal manifesto , progress

It’s cliche but the phrase “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything” comes to mind. Having a personal code of conduct, goals, standards gives you guidance when you feel lost in the pace of the modern world we inhabit. This world doesn’t make a lot of sense to an ever growing sector of people and having clear parameters for yourself will help you navigate the right path through it.

What should my manifesto look like?

Ultimately how you do this is up to you! It’s your manifesto.

  • You could write a list in an app you use so it’s easy to refer to on the go
  • You could have a special notebook where you create the list and then reflect on how you are living versus what your personal guidelines…

Live like you’re retired…

exercise , friendships , happiness , nature , retirement , strengths

Lovemypups333's avatarWorking Hard on Hardly Working

After 18 months of researching, exploring and trying new things I have made a few discoveries I’d like to share:

  1. Discovering the things you love to do makes the heart grow fonder. I read StrengthFinders and took the test to find my top 5 strengths. On my top 5 list were input and learner. By allowing myself some time to learn new things everyday helps me feel better and become a happier person.
  2. Making new friends isn’t as hard as I thought. I went outside of my comfort zone and joined a local club that has so many fun options to meet people and try new things. There are a lot of people out there like you and me looking for new friendships and ways to spend time after retirement or even in pre-retirement.
  3. Exercise is essential to my well-being. I joined the Peloton craze and now can’t wait to…

How are you supposed to find your life purpose? Sometimes this does not mean the job that you do every day, your responsibilities and your long-term goals. This can mean the real reason that you are here and the very reason that you exist in life.

If you believe that you do not have a purpose in life and that you are not looking for a meaning, you do not have to worry about identifying anything. If you believe that you are looking for something to do in life then you need to work hard at getting your purpose and learning about what it means for you. This is going to help you be a stronger and more achievable person with anything that you try to do.

If you want to find the true purpose that you have in life then you need to let go of all the emptiness…

Queen of the Road

Musings from a Tangled Mind's avatarMusings from a Tangled Mind

I know I just wrote about RVs recently and it’s not exactly a topic to expand on, but here we are, expanding. Why, you ask? Well, because apparently Facebook overheard our conversation or caught me “thinking” about RVs and decided to throw a gazillion ads at me to show me the life I’ve been missing.  I’m still not sure how Facebook manages to get inside my head, but that’s a topic for another day.

I will admit, some of the ads for tricked-out RV homes sort of reinforced the crazy notion of quitting the 9 to 5 life and hitting the road.  I can see why people would choose the open road, permanently. Obviously, this isn’t my first or even best dream. But hey, If I can’t pull up stakes and move to Ireland, then I wouldn’t mind travelling America’s highways like Jack Kerouac.

What’s my plan, you ask?…

Why freelance copywriters need to care less about the dishes

Being productive

CopywriterLaura's avatarMedical ESL

I’ll put my hands up and happily admit that I’ve been somewhat rubbish at committing myself to a daily blog post. I declared that I would as part of my 19 Things for 2019. I then failed to post entirely, but as I never said when this commitment would start I’m going to let myself off the hook a little.

As I resume blogging, I want to address an issue that doesn’t seem important at first glance: ignoring the dishes. Although I’ve worked as a freelance copywriter for nine years, I’ve only operated on a full-time basis for two of them. Mastering the fine art of working as a full-time freelance copywriter is challenging for a few reasons.

I won’t explore all those reasons today, but one that gets to me the most is my inability to switch off from home life. When you’re working at home, this is often…
